First Impressions

Brief History

cw: implied internalized homophobia, violence, murder, grooming.

Formerly known as Henry Wright, he serves as a sleeper agent in Russia during the Cold War. Recruited at just 18, he catches the government’s attention with his exceptional IQ and a history of violence (info here). Henry is calculated, charismatic and incapable of remorse — qualities they deem ideal for training and deploying overseas. While on assignment, he forms a close but inappropriate bond with his handler (info here), a connection that complicates his otherwise cold and efficient nature.

As the years go by, Henry grows increasingly restless and unpredictable, his admiration for his handler distorting into a mix of jealousy and confusion. Mistaking these feelings for hatred he snaps, stabbing his handler to death in a moment of violent release.

Without his handler he goes AWOL, transforming into a rogue threat to both Russia and the US. Operating without allegiance, he slips through the cracks, capturing and torturing agents from both sides to extract sensitive information with no one to report back to and no clear objective driving him.

It’s during his time in Russia that Raíz discovers him — a dog without a master. Now known as Saber Tooth, he survives for decades, each year chipping away at his sanity. Unprepared for humanity’s rapid evolution and the boundless possibilities beyond it, Saber hovers on the brink of an existential crisis. About once a year, he needs to be admitted to a psychiatric ward to keep his instability in check. The only thing keeping him grounded is his unwavering readiness to follow her orders.

With years of experience under his belt, he works his way up to a mentor position alongside Great, not that anyone wants him there. He's ruthless, unforgiving, and the one recruit he grooms trains loses what empathy she has left to grow into the unrelenting war machine that she is now. He creates monsters, which is one of the reasons why Great steered Cellar in the opposite direction.

In conclusion, he’s the frontline man, the reliably unreliable, tell him once and you’ll never have to tell him again.

Powers

Necrosis: takes life from another by touch, necrotizes the flesh left behind. It took years for him to control it so he didn't 100% kill someone by accident/on purpose (idk we just don't know with him).

→ Can transfer life energy to others but rarely does, keeping it for himself.
→ The effects of taking life depend on the health of his victim: he may gain temporary immunity to illness, enhanced strength/stamina, or fall sick immediately.
→ Misusing this power can cause him to rot from the inside out.

Demeanor & Attitude

What if you took Norman Bates and made him less of a recluse and more of a cutie? Either option still makes him a terrible person! Saber can be quite disarming, worming his way into people's social circles to get what he wants. With a few screws loose, that never lasts for very long. He operates purely on instinct, feeding his ego first before anything else. He'll switch up his behavior constantly (what's going on in his head?? we don't know!!). Quick overview:

here, boston-ish accent mixed in with hints of a russian lilt here and there. not noticeable unless he drinks.

5'11", built. Looks mid-twenties but is actually much older. Clean-shaven with soft brown hair. No tattoos.
