BACKSTORY:




Henry Wright, the mobster with a heart. All he knew growing up was the sort of crime everyone can put a face to. Bank robberies, loans, drugs, laundering, and most of all, revenge. Businesses behind restaurants and in their basements, entire streets, then towns controlled by mafia. Law enforcement picked their battles. If it wasn't the Wrights, it was going to be someone else, and nobody wanted their rivals on the streets. Who wants a shootout on 5th?

He climbed ranks fast, faster than anyone his age. Smart, capable and ruthless, Henry kept things quiet and clean, no questions asked. Soon, he took over the family business and got creative. Why stick to one town? His family questioned his enthusiasm for an increase of profit versus risk, but he was determined. Less robberies, more loans and drug trafficking. He did a few stints in the big house, sure, but he always kept his mouth shut and his hands bloody, which earned him more respect all around.

With the laundering, trafficking, and all the nasty deals that follow, comes something unexpected: unwavering loyalty. Not just to his own, but to the people scattered across England. He sees the Balfours as his responsibility. And anyone who steps inside their house?

RUMORS:




✄ He donates to three hospitals, two museums, and a prison. When asked why, he said: 'One for every version of me that made it out.'

✄ Ani left during dinner," said one staffer. "Just stood, smiled, kissed his cheek and said, ‘Tell Fat Larry I’ll miss him.’" Henry didn’t finish his wine.

✄ Ani taught the dogs how to bark on command in Russian. He taught her how to hotwire a Bentley. Everyone agrees they were terrifyingly compatible. Henry’s dogs still get excited whenever they hear stilettos.

✄ Alicent said no to a diamond ring, so he had it melted into the base of a perfume bottle. Now she wears it every day and doesn’t even know it.

✄ You know the phrase ‘make them an offer they can’t refuse’? Henry Wright never needs the second half of the sentence.

✄ Someone tried to bribe the chef last summer. Mr. Wright offered him a better deal—twice the money, and a quiet place to bury the body.

✄ Shadowheart used to snort lines off his desk and call it ‘business alignment.’ Now she teaches breathwork at sunrise. Henry still sends her incense on her birthday.

✄ They say he still keeps Shadowheart's old lipstick-stained champagne glass locked in his office drawer. For what, nobody knows.

✄ One of the groundskeepers swears he heard a woman singing in tongues behind the hedge maze. Henry walked out ten minutes later, adjusting his cuffs.

✄ When he says he’s craving Italian, he doesn’t mean pasta. Ask the girl who used to run the wine cellar.

Mila Singer: Adopted daughter; her parents used her as collateral for their debt. Now he considers her one of his own and he'll do anything for her.
Kieran w. James: Adopted son; came to Henry as a child via more shady debts (his parents are terrible).
Lucien Ducharme: Eyes and ears at DMTNT, brings him information with questionable relevance. Guests get more loose-lipped when they're drunk and he's an excellent listener.
Alicent Hightower: The darling, the sweetheart, the never have I....or has he?
Anora Mikheeva: Was her fiance– she ghosted him when he proposed, but not after one incredible week.
Silco: The kind of friend to smoke cigars and drink with.
Shadowheart: Ex-girlfriend, a true love while she was deep in her girlboss era.
Jake Seresin: Their history is murky, but rumor has it Henry's boys watched over him in the slammer. Now he pops in for his poker games.

OTHER NOTES:




• His reputation displays great amounts of empathy, what he used to be lacking in. He's still got that questionable anger, but nothing to make him too unlikable. Enjoy his genuine kindness while it lasts.

• He has two (elusive) biological children, a girl and a boy. Rowdy kids that are often on vacation, or being watched by their nanny. Once a year, they'll make their appearance at the house to say their hellos.

• A secret prohibition-era speakeasy is said to be owned by him, what's the code? Only true loyalists know.

• He's nothing if not traditional, he'll bless special occasions (including weddings).

• His brain might be fixed but his hands aren't; the scandals surrounding him and his wandering eye are over the top.

• Sometimes seen carrying around a cat... "Fat Larry"

• Has several well-trained Dobermans on his property.

• Uses all sorts of old-fashioned pet names for the ladies.
